I believe that entrepreneurship opens the door to more prosperity for more people, regardless of their social status, race, religion, where they were born or how much education they have.

I'm Edwin Hill. After 20 years in the Army, I worked a series of different jobs, trying to find something I could settle into for the rest of my working years.

Much of the work I did during those years was free-lance or, “gig work.” While I enjoyed the freedom of setting my own schedule, I did have a family to support. I needed a steady income.

Occasionally, a job would come along that offered decent pay and benefits and I would become an employee for a while.

I worked hard and did high quality work. Because my employers liked my work, I would often be "rewarded" with more work and more difficult projects. Their appreciation, however, seldom showed up in promotions and pay raises.

Eventually, I would leave and go back to working free-lance, where my work was better compensated and I could decide what my working conditions were.

Our educational system is not designed to produce independent-minded people who want to start their own businesses.

But, that’s where the freedom is. And the possibility of a higher than average income.

Now, in my retirement years, I am committed to helping others make the transition from dissatisfied employees to independent business owners who have control over their lives.

I was too independent...
